Dog Training Programs
The Evaluation
The first step to training your dog is an
evaluation with a professional dog trainer. An
evaluation usually takes about one hour and is free if
you come to our dog training center in Middleboro, MA. During this
meeting your dog trainer can identify your needs as well
as determine any behavior problems with your dog.
Your trainer will then custom design a dog training
program for you and your pet.
Private One-on-One Dog
Training Lessons
Although Group Classes are very helpful for
distraction training and socialization for dogs, private
lessons held one-on-one are usually recommended at the
start. During the one-on-one private dog training
your dog will learn how to stop pulling and to walk
nicely by your side. He will learn to come when
called, sit instead
of jumping up, lay down and stay while you are eating
dinner, and to stop dashing out of the door and running
away. Other behavior problems are also addressed
such as counter surfing, barking, separation anxiety,
and housetraining.
Private dog training lessons usually last about 1
hour and cost $85.00 per session if held at our facility
in Middleboro, MA. At the evaluation your
certified dog trainer will be able to estimate how many
private obedience training sessions will be necessary to
accomplish your goals. Most dogs/handlers need
between 3 and 7 lessons. Of course the number of
dog training lessons needed is directly related to how
much time you dedicate to practicing as well as your
consistency with your dog training.
Private in-home dog training is also available at an
additional cost. Cost is relative to distance
traveled from our dog training center.
Residency Program
After evaluating your dog and identifying your
training goals your dog trainer may recommend a
residency dog training program.
The Residency Program is designed to
"jump-start" your dog's training. It is
not necessarily only for difficult dogs but more for busy
families and other owners who don't have the necessary
time or skills to complete the initial
"teaching" of your dog. Also known as
"doggie boot camp" or board and train the
program does not get any owners "off the
hook". However, when you are learning at the
same time as your dog, training can sometimes take more
time. Also many dogs benefit greatly by
intensive training when they are removed from a
household where they are having problems and then come
home with a brand new perspective and a new set of
rules. The program is also perfect for families
traveling on vacation. If you were planning on
boarding your dog anyway, why not have him trained at
the same time?
Your dog will stay here at our facility for two full
weeks. Occasionally some dogs need a few extra
days to "get it". If that is the case
there are no additional charges. Our dog training
facility is on the same property as the home of our
owner and head trainer, Lisa Flynn. When your dog stays here she becomes one
of Lisa's dogs. Training is incorporated into
Lisa's daily life. Your dog will be introduced to
loads of new people and dogs, plenty of distractions,
and have fun down time with the staff and/or other
dogs. It's like Doggie Camp for your best friend!
The key to a residency dog training program is the
follow-up. That's where we teach you how to
reinforce your dog's new rules and commands. Most
people need between 2 and 3 follow-up lessons.
However, we stand behind our training. Our promise
to you is that if you are following our directions and
still having problems, we will continue to work with you
at no additional cost.
The board and train program also includes a
life-time membership to our group dog training
class. The cost of the program is $1195.00
Accelerated Remote Training
This new technology and approach to training offers the dog and the handler immediate, humane and positive training results. No other training method produces results as quickly and effectively or is as safe as training with a remote collar. The remote collar may be added to any of the programs to accelerate your training and more quickly reach off-leash control. The cost of the collar will
depend on the model used and will typically be between $200 and $250, as per the recommendation of the trainer. A one-week free trial of a remote collar is available.
Group Class
You may have attended a group dog training class in
the past, but never like this one! Some group
classes are chaotic and can be downright dangerous at
times. Our Group Dog Training Class is fun!!
The class is by invitation only, is a drop-in class, and
very informal. We're just hanging out working with
and playing with our dogs. The best part is is
that all of the dogs and handlers already have an
understanding of the commands. It's not teaching,
it's practicing and reinforcing your training with
controlled distractions.
The class meets every two weeks and is open to graduates of
our dog training programs only. Invitation is subject to approval and evaluation by trainer. Ask about free passes.
Specialty Training
The Cultured Canine, Inc. is also able to offer programs in Personal Protection, Tracking and Scent Discrimination, Soft-Mouth Retrieval, and Handicapped Support.
Puppy Consultation
Most dogs are ready for formal training somewhere
between 4 and 6 months. However, training actually
begins the moment you bring your puppy home.
Either you are training him or he is training you!
Our Puppy Consultation is designed to help you and your family start off on the right paw raising a new puppy. Emphasis is on house-training, discouraging play biting, and socialization.
We help you set up a schedule for your dog designed
around play, work, and rest. The class lasts 1 to
1 1/2 hours and costs $85.00. $25.00 of that cost
is applicable to any training you and your dog attend
with us in the future.
Behavior Problems
Problems are approached on a case-by-case basis after an initial evaluation by the trainer.
The Cultured Canine, Inc. offers obedience training
and behavior problem solving for dogs and their owners
in South Eastern Massachusetts, the South Shore, Cape
Cod, and the Metro Boston area. Many of our
clients also share their lives with their dogs in New
Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.
